Project: Maintenance and Conservation Action Plan
Architect: ELGAARD Architecture
In 2017, Elgaard Architecture has completed an action plan for the maintenance and conservation of the exhibition center Munkeruphus, which is located on the Øresund coast between North of Copenhagen. The house was formerly the home and workplace for artist Gunner Aagaard Andersen and has now been converted into an exhibition space for art, crafts, design, and architecture.
During the years 2010 – 2015, the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces has systematically gone through all the listed buildings in Denmark. The aim was to gain more knowledge about the underlying architectural and cultural heritage values. In connection to this Elgaard Architecture has mapped the conservation values at Munkeruphus and carried out the action plan to get an overview of the building’s overall condition, as well as its need for maintenance.
Action plans for the listed buildings are paid for by the Agency for Culture and Palaces but are carried out by private consulting firms specialised in the built heritage.
